Low self esteem can be crippling when it comes to trying out new things in life.  A new job, a party with people you don’t know, a promotion can all pass you by while you hover between wanting it, thinking you can do it – or even thinking that you don’t deserve it.  However low self esteem is also a starting point.  You don’t have to keep on living with low self esteem.  You can decide to do something different.

One of the great things about low self esteem is that as soon as you recognise that it is there because of a state of mind you have got into you begin to see that if you got yourself into that state of mind – you can get yourself out of it too.  That is the good news.  Sometimes we end up having low self esteem as an everyday state of mind because we have been bullied, or told that we are ‘no good’ by other people.  Well, you know what?  Other people are wrong!  One thing we do know for sure is that there has never been a baby with low self esteem.  We are all born with it as our right, our natural state of being.  Then like a big piece of paper it gets little pieces torn off it day by day until one day we realise that we only have a little piece of self esteem paper left.

It was other people who started tearing off those precious bits of your paper.  Probably after a while you began to do it too by giving yourself messages about not being special, or not being able to get your needs taken into account or feeling like the people you live or work with don’t want you around.  But you can stop that today.  Low self esteem can be a thing of the past as you make the first steps in deciding to have sound self esteem as your ‘default’ state of mind instead.

First things first.  Can you remember who it was who used to tear many pieces of your precious self esteem paper off?  And can you remember what it was they used to say or do?  Once you have those images in your head start to look at them and say firmly ‘You were wrong’  I choose sound self esteem not low self esteem.  What you used to say and do about me says much more about you than it ever did about me.  I was just too young to know it.”

Keep saying that to the images in your head.  Your low self esteem will start to shift.  You are standing up to the self esteem bully in your head and like any bully it will find it hard to carry on when you do that.

Low self esteem can be changed.  You have just made your first steps and you are well on the way.  Try our free special reports on what to do when you have low self esteem  click here to access the downloads..
